Mills Selig and clients raise a toast to the haggis in celebration of Burns Night.

On Thursday 26 January clients joined Mills Selig for what has become an annual tradition for the firm, the celebration of Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns.

Set in the recently opened Alba Scottish Steakhouse, the evening began with the official piping in of the Haggis and the infamous address to the Haggis overseen by the evening’s host Wilfie Pyper MBE. Guests then enjoyed their traditional Scottish supper of Haggis, neeps and tatties. Tartan was a welcome theme for evening with some guests even sporting the iconic Scottish kilt.

Delivering the ‘Toast to the Immortal Memory’ of Robert Burns was Mills Selig’s very own Scottish lassie and partner at the firm, Kirsten Magee. Kirsten first introduced the celebration of Robert Burns to the firm four years ago and it has become an annual tradition for the Mills Selig to celebrate Burns Night, an evening that is much enjoyed by our Partners, staff and clients.

Friend of Mills Selig and proud Scotsman, Iain Lundie from HCA Group delivered the traditional ‘Toast to the lassies’ with Mills Selig’s property consultant, Jayne Paterson, a native of Strathy Point, Sutherland in the Highlands delivering what proved to be the highlight of the evening, the ‘reply on behalf of the lassies’ – Jayne delivered an original poem written in the Burns’ style which drew great applause from all in attendance.

Guests of Mills Selig thoroughly embraced the celebration and joined in unison to sing Auld Lang Syne before the evening drew to a close.

The success of the night is testament to Kirsten Magee, Jayne Paterson and Mills Selig’s clients who brought great charisma and spirit to the celebration of Burns Night. It was also an opportunity for Mills Selig and clients to share a toast to the new year and look ahead to 2023.
