Mills Selig was named ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year’ by Insider Media at the 2022 Dealmaker Awards.
The awards recognise and celebrate firms and individuals who have excelled in dealmaking over the past year. The accolade is testament to both the complexity and volume of high value deals successfully completed by Mills Selig.
In the past year alone the team, led by Managing Partner and Head of Corporate, Chris Guy, has more than doubled deal volume and despite the economy being under the veil of a pandemic, Mills Selig’s corporate team hit a record breaking half a billion pounds in total deal value for the year.
It is the team’s ability, precision and attention to the detail that makes them stand out in their field of corporate law. Specialising in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, the team are highly regarded for their handling of sales and acquisitions of companies and businesses, joint ventures, private equity investments and corporate reorganisations.
Mills Selig’s corporate team continues to be the go-to legal adviser for FD Technologies PLC and has retained its role as UK advisor for French listed Questel Group. Significant deals managed by the team within the past year include, acting for the seller of a portfolio of wind turbine projects that represented the largest transaction of its kind in Northern Ireland in 2021, acting on the sale of Natural World Products, advising Hospital Services Limited on the £3.5m private equity investment made by Northern Irish Foresight Group and acting on the acquisition of the Old Inn, Crawfordsburn by local hospitality giant The Galgorm Collection.
The corporate team boasts a range of highly skilled and experienced lawyers, including Senior Partner, John Kearns who has almost 30 years of experience in corporate law. Supporting Chris Guy at partner level is Glenn Watterson and newly appointed partner, Darren Marley who was promoted towards the end of 2021.
The team of lawyers have also made a lot of noise in a busy market space throughout the past year. Chris Guy was previously awarded Insider Dealmaker of the Year 2021 and Glenn Watterson received special recognition by Chamber and Partners legal directory being named amongst his peers as ‘Up and Coming’. Darren Marley was shortlisted for ‘Emerging Dealmaker of the Year’ and team has grown significantly grown in the past six months.
Mills Selig corporate team acted on more than 50 M&A transactions during the qualifying period for Insider Media Dealmaker Awards. On announcing the award, the judges commented that the doubling in deal volume and deal value made Mills Selig the outstanding law firm this year.
Speaking on being named ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year 2022’ and reflecting on the achievements of the past year, Chris Guy, Head of Corporate and Managing Partner said;
“It is an honour to receive this award and we are very pleased that it reflects the high standard of work we do, as one team across the entire firm.
